Offboarding an artist

Move an artist off your team with control over their appointments, customer access, and departure date.

When an artist moves on from your shop, you want a clean handoff — no lost appointments, no confusion about who's booking whom. Porter's offboarding flow walks you through it step by step, so you decide exactly what happens to their upcoming appointments and customer access, and when it all takes effect.

👋 What offboarding lets you decide

Offboarding comes down to three choices:

  • Who keeps upcoming appointments — they can stay with the shop, or move with the departing artist.

  • Whether the artist keeps customer access — you choose if they can still see the customers they worked with here.

  • When it takes effect — right now, or scheduled for a future date.

🧭 Getting to the offboarding flow

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner, then select Manage Team

  2. Find the artist you're offboarding and click “View Employee”

  3. Click “Begin offboarding”

📋 Walking through the steps

1. When should this take effect?

Choose to offboard right now, or schedule it for a future date.

💡 Scheduled offboardings can be edited or canceled any time up until the moment they begin — so if plans change, nothing is locked in early.

2. What happens to upcoming appointments?

Decide where the artist's future appointments live after they leave:

  • Stay at the shop as unassigned bookings, or

  • Move with the artist to wherever they go next.

3. Should they keep customer access?

After offboarding completes, the artist can either keep visibility into the customers they worked with at your shop, or have that access revoked.

4. Take one last look

Double-check everything before you kick things off. If you scheduled the offboarding for later, you can always come back and edit it before it starts.

5. Begin offboarding

When everything looks right, click “Begin offboarding.”

⚠️ Heads up: If you offboard right now, it takes effect immediately. If you scheduled it, it stays editable until the start date — but once a scheduled offboarding begins, it runs as set.
