Working at multiple locations

Add, remove, and switch between the studios you work at — and join an existing shop on Porter.

Plenty of artists split their time between studios — a home base, a guest spot, a second shop across town. Porter lets you manage all of your locations from one place, so every appointment lands at the right address and your clients always know where to show up.

📍 Adding a location

  1. Open the Porter mobile app and tap into your Profile.

  2. Go to Locations and tap “Add Location.”

  3. Type in the studio name and address exactly as you want it to appear to clients.

  4. Tap Save.

When you save, Porter checks the studio you entered against the shops already on our platform to figure out what happens next:

  • It’s a match with an existing shop → we’ll ask whether you want to join that shop or create your own new studio. (More on joining below.)

  • It’s brand new to Porter → we’ll set it up as your own new studio.

💡 You won’t see a dropdown of suggestions as you type — that’s on purpose. We only match your studio after you’ve entered it, so you’re always describing your own space rather than picking from a list.

🔄 Setting your default location

Your default location is the one Porter assumes for new appointments unless you choose otherwise.

  1. From Profile → Locations, find the studio you want as your default.

  2. Tap it and select “Set as Default.”

That location will now lead the way anytime you schedule something new — and you can still switch it on a per-appointment basis whenever you need to.

🗑️ Removing a location

  1. From Profile → Locations, tap the location you no longer work at.

  2. Scroll down and tap “Remove.”

  3. Confirm in the pop-up.

⚠️ Heads up: Removing a location only affects where you work going forward. Be sure any upcoming appointments at that studio are moved or wrapped up first — see Choosing a location for an appointment for how to change an appointment’s location.

🏠 Joining an existing shop

If the studio you’re adding already exists on Porter, you can request to join it instead of creating a duplicate.

  1. When prompted, choose “Join this shop.”

  2. Porter sends a request to that shop’s manager, along with the access to reports that goes with it.

  3. The shop manager reviews and approves your request.

You’re only considered part of the shop once the manager approves — until then, you’ll see your request as pending. This keeps shops in control of who’s booking under their roof.

💳 Creating a brand-new studio

If the studio you’re adding is new to Porter, you’re starting fresh with your own space — which means it gets its own subscription.

  • New studios start on a 7-day free trial of the base artist plan, so you can get set up and take your first bookings before committing.

  • You’ll be prompted to start the trial as you finish adding the location.

👋 Seeing your locations for the first time

A couple of situations will send you straight to your Locations screen when you open the app — this is normal, and it’s there to help you get organized:

  • You’re tied to more than one studio. The first time you open the app with 2+ locations, we’ll guide you to Locations so you can review everything in one spot and pick your default.

  • You signed up again and already had a Porter profile (for example, through our website). We’ll take you to Locations so you can see both your old and new studios side by side — and remove the old one if you no longer need it.
