Update the default artist booking settings

Configure default booking settings that apply to all artists in your shop.

As a shop manager, you can configure default booking settings that apply to all artists in your shop. These settings ensure consistency across your team while still allowing individual artists to fine-tune their preferences if needed.


🧑‍💼 How to Update Default Settings

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner

  2. Go to Manage Shop > Booking

  3. In the Default Artist Settings section, you can configure:


⚙️ Settings You Can Customize

Many of these settings are the same ones artists can set individually:

Appointment Minimum

  • Set a minimum price for all artist bookings

Max Appointments per Day

  • Limit how many appointments artists can receive in a day

Book Ahead Limit

  • Choose how far in advance clients are allowed to book (e.g., 180 days)

Book in Advance

  • Require clients to book with at least a certain amount of notice (e.g., 24 hours)

Max Reschedule Times

  • Set how many times a client can reschedule for free before being charged again

Minimum Reschedule Notice

  • Define how far in advance a client must reschedule to avoid being charged a fee (e.g., 48 hours)

Stack Days

  • Encourage bookings to stack on days the artist already has appointments, helping consolidate their in-studio schedule

Stack Times

  • Only show clients the first or last available time to avoid awkward gaps during the artist’s day

  • Optionally require longer appointments to be scheduled at the start of the day

Cancellation Policy

  • Set a standard cancellation message clients will see when confirming their appointment and paying the deposit


🧩 Apply Settings to All Artists

When you save your changes, you'll be prompted with two options:

  • Apply to future users only

  • Apply to all existing artists

Choose Apply to all existing artists if you want to instantly update everyone’s booking settings at once.


✏️ Artist Customization Still Allowed

Even after setting defaults, artists can adjust their individual settings from the Porter mobile app. This lets you enforce shop-wide standards while giving service providers the flexibility to fine-tune their availability and booking preferences.
