How Waivers Work in Porter
Porter's waiver system is designed to protect your shop while keeping things simple for both artists and clients. Whether you're running a full tattoo & piercing studio, or are an independent tattoo artist, waivers are automatically handled through Porter to ensure compliance, liability protection, and ease of use.
📲 When Clients Receive Waivers
For any appointment that has a waiver tied to it, Porter will automatically text the waiver link to the client 1 hour before their appointment.
For walk-ins, as soon as the walk-in is added to the calendar, the client will receive the text immediately.
No action is required from the shop unless a waiver was not attached at the time of scheduling.
🛠️ Managing Waivers
On your calendar, you'll see a colored icon on each appointment:
🟢 Green: The client has completed the waiver, and if applicable, the service provider has completed their section.
🔴 Red: The waiver has not yet been completed by the client.
🟠 Orange: The client completed their portion, but the artist still needs to complete their section.
If a waiver wasn’t tied to an appointment, you can manually add a waiver to the appointment.
✍️ Completing the Service Provider Section
If enabled, the Service Provider Section allows artists to fill out additional details after the client completes their part. You’ll receive a text notification when it’s time to complete your portion.

📁 Viewing and Uploading Waivers
Artists and managers can:
View waiver status directly from the calendar
Click on a waiver icon to view the full submission
Upload additional files (like a replacement ID or supporting documents) to a client's profile
