⚡ Setting Up Your Flashbook in Porter

Upload your flash, build a storefront, and control exactly how clients can book it

Porter's Flashbook lets you upload your flash designs, organize them into a storefront, and control exactly how clients can book them — either by direct booking or booking requests.

There are two types of Flashbook:

  • Individual Artist Flashbook — each artist's own designs, set up in the Porter mobile app.

  • Shop Flashbook — the shop's storefront as a whole, set up in the browser version of Porter.

This guide covers both. 👇

📱 Individual Artist Flashbook (Mobile App)

Everything you need to get your individual Flashbook live happens right in the mobile app.

📍 Where to Find Flash Settings

  1. Open the Porter mobile app

  2. Go to Profile

  3. Tap Flashbook

That's your Flashbook dashboard — everything below happens here.

⬆️ Upload Flash Designs

  1. From the Flashbook dashboard, tap the "+" icon in the top right

  2. Upload a design image

  3. Add your details:

    • Title (required)

    • Short description (optional)

    • Tags (optional — helps clients filter your storefront)

  4. Set up your variants. Enable or disable any of the 4 pre-defined variants — small, medium, large, and extra large — and enter a duration and price estimate for each one you turn on.

  5. Tap Save

Your design is now live in your Flashbook storefront (unless it's archived).

💡 Heads up: If you have Direct Bookings enabled for a design, you'll need at least one variant with a duration and price estimate before you can save it.

🔀 Reorder or Archive Designs

Reorder (drag & drop)

Want certain designs to show first?

  1. Go to the Flashbook dashboard

  2. Tap "Re-order flash"

  3. Drag designs into the order you want

Your storefront updates instantly.

Archive / Unarchive

Archiving removes a design from your storefront but keeps all its info saved.

  1. Open a flash design

  2. Tap the 3 dots in the top right, then Archive

To bring it back, open Archived Designs and tap Unarchive. This is perfect for seasonal flash or designs you want to pause for a while.

♻️ Repeatable vs. Single-Use Designs

Inside each design, you'll find a Repeatable toggle:

  • Repeatable ON — unlimited bookings. Great for "always-available" flash.

  • Repeatable OFF (Single-Use) — once booked, the design is automatically marked claimed and no one else can book it. Clients may see "1 Left / Limited Edition" on that design.

Use single-use for one-offs, limited drops, or convention exclusives.

🗓️ Direct Booking vs. Booking Requests

Each flash design can be set to one of two booking modes.

Direct Booking

Clients can book instantly without waiting for approval. To enable:

  1. Open a flash design

  2. Set Booking Mode to Direct Booking

  3. Add at least one size variant (required)

  4. Add a duration and price estimate per variant (required)

Clients will choose a variant, pick a date and time, pay a deposit (if enabled), and book on the spot.

Booking Requests Only

Clients submit a request first, then you review and accept it like any normal request. To enable:

  1. Open a design

  2. Set Enable Direct Bookings to Off

Clients will select a variant, fill out your (flash-filtered) booking form, and wait for your reply and acceptance. Great when you want a little more control before anything hits your calendar.

📏 Size Variants (Small / Medium / Large / XL)

If you allow flash bookings, you can offer size options for each design.

  1. Open a flash design

  2. Go to Variants

  3. Toggle on the sizes you want to offer

  4. For each enabled size, enter a duration and a price estimate

💡 Keep in mind: If Direct Booking is enabled, at least one variant must be on, and both price and duration are required.

💰 Deposit Rules (When Clients Pay)

You can control deposit behavior at two levels: a Flash default deposit rule, and a per-design override.

Deposit rule options

  • No deposit

  • Flat deposit (dollar amount)

  • Percentage of price

  • Full payment up front

Set your Flash default

  1. Flashbook dashboard → Settings

  2. Tap Deposit Rules

  3. Choose your default rule

  4. Save

Override for a specific design

  1. Open the design

  2. Go to Payment Rules

  3. Choose the rule for that design

Clients pay deposits during booking, just like normal appointments.

🕘 Flash Availability Settings

Flash can be bookable every day like normal appointments, or only during specific flash windows. To configure, go to Profile > Flash Availability and choose how flash is allowed to be booked.

  • Restrict to Flash Days Only — flash is bookable only on scheduled Flash Days. When you add a Flash Day, normal appointments can't be scheduled on that day, and clients booking flash will only see your Flash Days as available. Best for big flash drops or shop events.

  • Restrict Days of the Week — choose which weekdays flash can be booked (for example, Friday/Saturday only). Good if you want flash to live on certain slower days.

✅ Final Checklist to Go Live

Before you post your Flashbook link, confirm:

  • Designs uploaded and reordered

  • Repeatable toggles set correctly

  • Booking mode set per design

  • Variants added (if direct booking)

  • Deposit rules set

  • Flash availability configured

  • Storefront preview looks right

💻 Shop Flashbook (Browser)

In addition to individual artist Flashbooks, shop managers can set up a Shop Flashbook for the shop as a whole. This one's done from the browser version of Porter.

📍 Where to Find the Shop Flashbook

  1. Log in to the browser version of Porter at app.getporter.io

  2. Click your profile in the upper right-hand corner

  3. Click Shop Flashbook

⬆️ Add a Flash Design

  1. Click "Add new flash"

  2. From here, follow the same steps as setting up an individual artist's flash design — upload a design image, add a title (plus optional description and tags), and set up your variants with a duration and price estimate for each.

➜ See the Upload Flash Designs steps in the Individual Artist section above for the full walkthrough.

🔀 Reorder Designs

Once you've created multiple designs, you can rearrange them right from the Shop Flashbook page. Just drag and drop the designs into the order you want.

⚙️ Settings

Click the Settings button on the Shop Flashbook page to:

  • Copy the storefront link

  • Enable direct bookings

  • Set payment rules

  • Set the deposit percentage

Whether you're an individual artist building your own storefront or a shop manager curating the whole collection, Flashbook gives you full control over what's available and how clients lock it in. Set it up once, share your link, and let the bookings roll in.
