Opening and closing your books

Control whether clients can send you new requests by opening your books, limiting them to flash only, or closing them completely.

Sometimes you’re booked out for months. Sometimes you just need a break from new requests while you catch up. Books Status lets you decide exactly what clients can book with you at any given time, without changing your hours or touching your calendar.

Artists can update their own status from the Porter mobile app, and shop managers can update it for any artist from the browser version of Porter.

📖 The three book statuses

Open: Your books are open as usual. Clients can send you booking requests and book any of your services.

Flash only: Clients can only book or request your flash designs. Custom requests are turned off until you open your books again.

Closed: Your books are fully closed. Clients won’t be able to send you any new requests.

💡 Tip: Flash only is a great middle ground for flash days and conventions. It’s also useful when your custom schedule is full but you still want to fill small gaps with flash.

📱 Artists: Update your books in the mobile app

  1. Open the Porter mobile app

Your status updates right away.

💻 Shop managers: Update an artist’s books in the browser

🗓️ What happens to existing appointments

Changing your books status only affects new requests. Appointments already on your calendar stay exactly where they are.
