✅ Step 1: Configure Your Minor Tattoo Settings
From Porter Business Web:
Click your name in the top right corner
Go to Manage Shop → Booking
Scroll to Minor Tattoo Settings
From here you can configure:
Allow minors?
Minimum age (ex: 16+)
Require birth certificate upload
Parent/guardian must be present
Require parent/guardian ID upload
💡 These settings control what Porter requires any time a tattoo appointment is booked for a minor.
🛠 Step 2: Update Your Other Services (Piercings, PMU, etc.)
If your shop offers piercings or other services in Porter, each service has its own minimum age and compliance rules.
To update them:
Go to Manage Shop → Booking
Scroll down to Other Services
Click into each service and hit Edit
For each service, set:
Minimum age
Minor compliance rules:
Birth certificate upload
Parent/guardian present
Parent/guardian ID upload
💡 If you offer multiple services (ear piercings, nose piercings, etc.), you’ll want to update each one so Porter enforces the correct rules.
🧾 Step 3: Update Your Waiver(s)
Porter automatically handles age confirmation.
That means your waiver should not include acknowledgements like:
“I confirm I am 18+”
“I certify that I am over 18 years old”
“This waiver is only valid for clients 18+”
To update your waivers:
Go to Manage Shop → Waivers
Open your waiver(s)
Remove any “18+” language from acknowledgements
💡 Porter will automatically show an 18+ confirmation step to adult clients when completing the waiver.
👶 Step 4: Configure Your Minor Addendum Settings (Inside Your Waiver)
Each waiver includes a built-in Minor Addendum section that automatically appears when the recipient is under 18.
To configure it:
Go to Manage Shop → Waivers
Edit your waiver
Click Edit Minor Addendum
You can choose to collect:
Parent/legal guardian info
Parent/legal guardian signature
Recipient signature
Custom minor acknowledgements (checkboxes)
💡 This is where you define what paperwork Porter collects for minor clients.
👀 What Clients See When Booking for a Minor
When a client starts a tattoo request or books a service, Porter asks:
“Is this appointment for you, or for someone else?”
If they choose someone else, they’ll enter the recipient’s:
Name
Date of birth
Relationship (tattoos only)
Porter uses the recipient DOB to determine whether the appointment is a minor appointment.
📅 How Scheduling Works for Minors
Porter enforces your minimum age rules based on the appointment date.
So if a client tries to schedule an appointment before they meet your minimum age requirement:
Porter blocks the date
Porter shows the earliest date they’re eligible to book
This applies to:
Tattoo scheduling after a request is accepted
Flash tattoo bookings
Rescheduling
Other services bookings
🏷 Minor Badge (For Shop Visibility)
If an appointment is for a minor, Porter will automatically show a MINOR badge on:
Requests
Appointments
Walk-in queue entries
This helps your team quickly identify when extra compliance steps are required.
✅ Important Note About Waivers
You should not need separate waiver versions for minors anymore.
You can use the same waiver for everyone, and Porter will automatically:
Show the Minor Addendum for minors
Show an 18+ confirmation step for adults
