How the SMS & Email credit system works in Porter

Porter makes it easy to stay in touch with your clients through email and SMS campaigns. With the Artist Pro and Full Studio plans, your subscription includes free credits every month for marketing messages.

To check your remaining balance:

  • Click the Marketing tab

  • Your available SMS and Email credits will be displayed at the top of the page

Credits refresh on the 1st of each month.


📬 What Counts Toward Credits?

✅ Only marketing campaigns (email or SMS) count toward your credit usage.
❌ All other system messages and notifications (reminders, confirmations, aftercare, etc.) are 100% free and do not use credits.


💬 SMS Credits

  • Each credit = 1 segment of a text message

  • SMS length limit is ~160 characters per segment

  • As your message gets longer, it may use multiple segments (2+ credits)

Example:
If your template uses 2 credits and you send it to 150 clients, 300 SMS credits will be used.

You’ll see a live credit counter in the SMS editor when building your message.


📧 Email Credits

  • Each email sent = 1 credit

  • If you send a campaign to 500 clients, you’ll use 500 credits


⚠️ Going Over Your Credit Limit

When building a campaign:

  • In the “To” section, you’ll see an estimated credit total

  • If your campaign exceeds your monthly limit, a popup will appear

  • You’ll be able to confirm and purchase the extra credits needed


💳 Additional Credit Costs

  • SMS: $0.02 per message

  • Email: $0.01 per message

You’ll only be charged if you choose to send a campaign that exceeds your free credit allowance.
