Creating a text message campaign in Porter is super fast and easy. Here’s how to get started:
💬 How to Create an SMS Template
Go to the Marketing tab in Porter.
Click Create Campaign and select SMS.
Hit Design Content to open the SMS editor.
Click Create Template to start a new one.
🛠️ Building Your SMS
Give your template a name so it’s easy to find later.
Type your message content directly into the editor.
Use the
{}icon to insert dynamic variables like the customer’s name:
Example:Hey {{ customer.first_name }}, we’ve got something new for you!Hit the 🖼️ image icon to add a picture to your SMS (MMS supported).
🔢 Message Length & Credits
On the right, you’ll see a counter starting at 1. This shows how many SMS credits your message will use:
Most short messages = 1 credit
Longer messages = 2+ credits
💡 Example: A 2-credit message sent to 100 clients will use 200 SMS credits.
📲 Send a Test Text
Click Send Test Text.
Select Manual.
Enter your phone number to preview the message.
Once you're happy with the content, save your template and apply it to your campaign!
