Send marketing emails from your own domain (Custom Domains)

Use your own business email address as the sender for marketing campaigns — instead of Porter's default shared domain.

By default, marketing emails sent from Porter come from a shared Porter domain. With Custom Domains, you can send your campaigns from an email tied to your own business (e.g., [email protected]) — which builds trust with your clients, improves deliverability, and keeps your branding consistent from inbox to booking.

Who can use this: Custom Domains are available for shop managers on the Full Studio plan, and for independent artists (not tied to a full studio plan)

✉️ Adding a Sending Email

  1. Go to the Marketing tab in the left-hand menu

  2. Click Custom Domain

  3. Click Add Sending Email

  4. Enter:

    • Sending email — must be tied to a domain you own (e.g., [email protected])

    • Send-to name — the name clients will see in their inbox (e.g., "Acme Tattoo")

    • Reply-to email — where client replies should be routed

  5. Click Continue to start the DNS verification step

🔧 Verifying Your Domain (DNS Setup)

After you submit your sending email, Porter will hand you off to Entri to walk you through adding the required DNS records to your domain.

Entri supports most major domain providers (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains, etc.) and will automatically apply the records for you when possible. If your provider isn't supported automatically, Entri will give you the exact records to add manually.

Heads up: DNS changes can take 24–48 hours to fully propagate. Your sending email will show as Pending in the Custom Domains list until verification completes, and then will switch to Available.

You don't need to do anything during this waiting period — Porter will automatically detect when your domain is verified.

📨 Using Your Custom Domain in a Campaign

Once your sending email shows as Available, you can use it on any new campaign:

  1. Create a new email campaign as you normally would

  2. In the campaign setup, you'll see a Sending Email option

  3. Select the custom email you want this campaign to send from

  4. Build and send your campaign as usual

You can add multiple sending emails under Custom Domains and choose which one to use on a per-campaign basis — useful if you want different campaigns to come from different addresses (e.g., hello@ for promos and bookings@ for rebooking reminders).

❓ Troubleshooting

My domain has been pending for more than 48 hours. Double-check with your domain provider that the DNS records from Entri were saved correctly. If everything looks right and it's still pending, reach out to Porter support and we'll take a look.

Can I use a free email like Gmail or Yahoo? No — the sending email must be tied to a domain you own and can manage DNS for. Free email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, etc.) don't allow third-party sending.

Can I remove a sending email later? Yes. You can remove any sending email from the Custom Domains screen. Just note that any campaigns that had it selected will fall back to Porter's default sender.
