Connecting your bank account

Connect your bank account via Stripe — the secure payment provider that powers Porter.

In order to receive payouts through Porter, both shops and artists need to connect a bank account via Stripe — the secure payment provider that powers Porter.


🧑‍💼 For Shop Managers

If you're managing the shop's payments — whether or not you're also an artist — you'll need to create a Shop Payments Account.

🔄 If you are both an artist and a shop manager, you'll need to set up two separate accounts:

  • One for your shop

  • One for your individual artist payouts

How to Set Up the Shop Payments Account:

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner

  2. Select Payments Account

  3. Click the button to set up your shop payments account

You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s onboarding flow to:

  • Enter your shop’s business information

  • Connect your shop’s bank account

⚠️ Be sure to enter business information, not your personal details

Once setup is complete, you’ll be redirected back to Porter. Stripe typically takes 2–3 business days to verify your information.

What Happens If You're Paid Before Verification?

  • Funds will be held in escrow

  • Once your Stripe account is verified, the funds will be automatically released


🧑‍🎨 For Artists

Each artist who receives payouts must set up their own individual payments account through the Porter mobile app.

How to Set Up Your Artist Payments Account:

  1. Open the Porter mobile app

  2. Go to Profile > Payments Account

  3. Tap the button to set up your payments account

You’ll be redirected to Stripe to:

  • Enter your personal or business info

  • Connect your bank account

Stripe typically takes 2–3 business days to complete verification. If anything is missing, you’ll be notified via email.

Like shops, any payment received before verification is complete will be held and automatically released once the account is approved.


🔄 Access & Manage Your Stripe Account

At any time, you can return to the Payments Account page in Porter and click the button to reopen your Stripe account.

From your Stripe dashboard, you can:

  • View all payouts and transfers

  • Check the status of your funds

  • Update your connected bank account or debit card

This is helpful if you need to change your payout method or track past transfers.


Setting up your Stripe account is a one-time process — and ensures that Porter can deliver automated, on-time payouts to you or your business. Let us know if you run into any issues with verification or setup!
